The New Sing! Hymnal

There's something really special about joining together in song with your brothers & sisters in Christ.

Thanks to the talents & influence of Keith & Kristen Getty, we have a resurgence in the writing of new hymns, fit for congregational singing. We also have old hymns recorded in modern arrangements with less traditional instrumentation accompanying time-honored words.

I've enjoyed flipping through the new SING! hymnal & seeing the old & new set so thoughtfully side-by-side. Words written by Fanny Crosby or John Newton in the same volume as those penned by Matt Papa or Bob Kauflin. Both are valuable & edifying to the body of Christ.

Separated into helpful topics that fit a variety of liturgical orders of service, the hymnal also includes reading from Scripture & respected authors that can easily be included in a church's worship service.

Also included in this hymnal is a section with brief stories for many of the hymns--another helpful resource to enrich the worship time for any congregation.

I am not a church worship leader, but I do love to get resources like this for our own family worship. I hope to see my kids learning to play these theologically-rich songs & singing together. Maybe even learning to harmonize as they read actual music instead of just lyrics on a screen.

If you have any musical members of your family, I encourage you to add this hymnal to your family devotions routine. It's a worthy addition to the discipleship of your family.

Another great way to use this hymnal is in your personal devotions. As you read God's Word, perhaps a specific topic is on your mind & you can look for a hymn that addresses this subject. Music often helps us remember things better! There are also so many songs that are based on Scripture, so you can sing the Bible to yourself! I know I get tunes stuck in my head a lot (just ask my kids), so wouldn't it be great to have hymns stuck in there instead?
